The Downshire Arms Hotel has a fascinating history. The
Port's oldest hostelry, the Downshire Arms Hotel was formerly a Coaching
Inn dating back to c. 1800, previously named 'Gordon's Inn'. The Downshire,
as is stands today, incorporates the 'Cross Keys Hotel' and 'Antrim Guest
House' (incorporated c. 1983).
Conveniently situated on the village main
street, the Downshire Arms Hotel stands out against the backdrop of
quaintly painted rows of cottages and terraces. The abundance of local
amenities and shops are only a stone's throw from our doorstep. (The local
shops have ATM machines for your convenience)
Having just undergone a
thorough refurbishment, the hotel features a Public Bar (popular with
locals and visitor alike), a Lounge Bar, a Cocktail Bar, an elegant and
charismatic Restaurant, Children's Area, large Function Suite with dance
floor, state-of-the-art sound & vision system and great atmosphere.
There are 19 lovely bedrooms mostly en-suite
at the Downshire Arms Hotel - all will be fully en-suite by December 2005.
Not to mention colour TV, direct dial telephones and all the modern
comforts.
Why not choose a bedroom which has panoramic views of the
Irish Sea and Ireland beyond. Family rooms available, but please ring for
latest availability, as our rooms are being constantly upgraded to reflect
the modern tastes. |
